From TTK to Global Display Giant: TCL Opens 23,000-Square-Meter Industrial Museum in Huizhou

TCL is celebrating four and a half decades of tech evolution by opening the doors to a massive new industrial museum built on the exact site where its journey first began back in 1981.

Global consumer electronics giant TCL has officially inaugurated the TCL Industrial Museum in Huizhou, China, honoring its 45th anniversary. Constructed on the historical site of TTK, the company's original predecessor, the facility serves as a living archive of TCL’s transformation alongside China’s booming electronics sector.

A Walk Through 45 Years of Electronics History

Spanning more than 23,000 square meters with over 9,000 square meters dedicated strictly to exhibition space, the museum houses upwards of 3,000 curated historical items across six halls and a central atrium. Visitors can explore rare artifacts including a 1920s Nipkow mechanical scanning disk, China’s first commercial computer, over 100 vintage TV sets from across the globe, and TCL CSOT’s groundbreaking 2024 mass-produced printed OLED 4K display.

The Strategic Split That Fueled Global Growth

Beyond vintage hardware, the showcase highlights the pivotal 2019 corporate restructuring that split the brand into TCL Technology and TCL Industries. Focusing TCL Technology on displays and clean energy while letting TCL Industries handle smart home devices paid off massively, pushing combined revenues from roughly 20 billion dollars in 2019 to over 50 billion dollars by 2025. Today, the brand maintains its spot as the world's number two TV shipper while expanding its reach through partnerships with the Olympic Games and ongoing initiatives like TCLGreen.

  • Exhibition Facility Scale: Over 23,000 square meters total area featuring 9,000+ square meters of exhibition space housing 3,000 curated pieces across six main halls.

  • Flagship Display Exhibit: Houses the world's first mass-produced inkjet-printed (IJP) OLED 4K display developed by subsidiary TCL CSOT in 2024.

Q: Where is the TCL Industrial Museum located and why was that site chosen?

A: It is located in Huizhou, China, built directly on the original factory site of TTK, the cassette tape manufacturer that marked the birth of TCL in 1981.

  • Point 1: TCL CSOT mass-produced the world's first inkjet-printed OLED 4K display in 2024.

  • Point 2: Following its 2019 corporate restructuring, TCL TV shipment volume rose to hold the number two position globally by 2025.
