TCL Opens AI Powered Smart Manufacturing Base in Guangzhou

TCL has officially inaugurated its new Air Conditioner Smart Manufacturing Base in Nansha, Guangzhou, marking a significant milestone in the company’s push toward Industry 4.0. The launch coincides with an impressive achievement for the brand: the production of 100 million air conditioning units over the last five years.

The new facility is designed to serve as a global benchmark for advanced manufacturing. With a total investment of nearly 2 billion yuan, the site integrates world class AI capabilities, robotics, and a zero carbon operation philosophy to meet the growing global demand for smart home climate solutions.

The Future of Climate Control Manufacturing

The Guangzhou base is currently the largest single base for intelligent air conditioner manufacturing in the Greater Bay Area. Its production lines are a masterclass in modern efficiency, capable of producing one air conditioner every seven seconds.

Key highlights of the new manufacturing hub include:

  • Supercomputer Driven Production: The facility utilizes an AI data center capable of 300 quintillion operations per second to manage 17,000 IoT sensors across the factory floor.

  • Fully Automated Dark Factories: Three flexible, unmanned factories handle the production of core components like evaporators, condensers, and piping.

  • AI Precision: The plant houses the world’s only AI empowered intelligent ultra high precision heat exchanger production line, which has boosted labor efficiency by over 41 percent.

  • Sustainability Focus: The facility is a self sustaining energy model, featuring 50,000 square meters of solar panels and advanced AI energy management to minimize waste and emissions.

Technology That Focuses on Sleep

Beyond manufacturing prowess, TCL is doubling down on its "FreshIN" series of AI healthy air conditioners. The company is positioning these units as personal sleep managers rather than just cooling devices.

Using millimeter wave radar technology, the units can detect a user’s sleep state and dynamically adjust temperature curves. By focusing on AI comfort and fresh air oxygenation, TCL aims to solve common nighttime discomforts such as inconsistent temperatures and poor air quality. With this innovation, TCL reports that it has already brought improved sleep quality to 100 million people globally.

Why This Matters

As consumer demand shifts toward smarter, more sustainable appliances, TCL’s investment signals a broader industry move toward "active service." Instead of relying on passive temperature control, the next generation of home appliances is designed to perceive the environment, understand user behavior, and make automated decisions to optimize comfort.

For Filipino consumers, this shift means that the air conditioners of the future will be more energy efficient and smarter at managing the humid tropical climate, potentially lowering long term utility costs while improving indoor air health.

Looking Ahead

TCL expects the Guangzhou base to reach an output value of 3 billion yuan by the end of 2026, with projections to exceed 10 billion yuan within the next five years. As the company continues to expand its global footprint, this new manufacturing hub will serve as the primary engine for its goal to double overall production capacity and strengthen its position as a top tier player in the global air conditioning market.
