COMELEC SM Supermalls Partnership 2026 Elections Voter Registration Guide Setup

COMELEC and SM Supermalls Partnership 2026 Elections Voter Registration Overview

Major Partnership Milestone for 2026 Barangay and SK Elections

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and SM Supermalls have officially renewed their partnership for voter registration and mall voting during the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE). This partnership agreement was formalized on December 2 at the COMELEC Office in Intramuros, Manila. The renewal represents a significant milestone in both institutions' commitment to making voter services more accessible, safer, and more convenient for Filipinos nationwide.

Expanding Reach: From 6 to 23 Malls Nationwide

The growth of this partnership has been remarkable over the years. During the 2023 BSKE, only six participating malls took part in the voter registration program. By the 2025 National and Local Elections, this number expanded to 20 malls successfully participating in the Mall Voting Program. Currently, 23 SM malls are scheduled to serve as voter registration sites, the most nationwide, with additional locations planned through May 2026.

Voter Registration Success in 2025

The partnership has demonstrated strong public engagement. During the special registration period in August 2025, 47 sites across the country were opened to voters. Most impressively, over 2.8 million Filipinos completed voter registration in just the last 10 days of the campaign period. These numbers reflect not just steady expansion but the public's overwhelming preference for organized, secure, and accessible venues where they can register and exercise their right to vote.

Key Benefits of Mall Voting Program

The partnership particularly benefits senior citizens, persons with disabilities, pregnant voters, and first time youth voters. Mall based voter services offer an environment that is comfortable, well lit, and highly accessible. This modernized approach strengthens democratic participation across communities nationwide.

What the Partnership Achieves

Through this renewed agreement, selected SM malls across the country will continue to serve as venues for voter registration and mall voting. The partnership directly contributes to higher voter turnout and improves the overall election experience for communities. It underscores a shared mission to bring essential voter services closer to the public and to empower every Filipino to participate fully in the country's democratic processes.
