Hakata Ikkousha, a ramen franchise from Fukouka, Japan opened its first Metro Manila branch in Alabang Muntinlupa City last March 3, 2018.
Located at the upper ground floor of Festival Mall's new expansion wing, this second Ikkousha branch in the Philippines (the first was in Cebu), offers a simple yet friendly ambience to the customers. During the grand opening, Ikkousha offered a BOGO on all ramen for the first 300 customers. They actually hit the target and more customers fell in line and patiently waited for hours just to have a taste of this great-tasting ramen.
The core of Ikkousha’s menu is the tonkotsu ramen, also known as Hakata ramen, after the place in Fukuoka City known for this ramen style. Its defining characteristic is its tonkotsu broth, which is made by simmering pork bones for many hours. The result is a thick, creamy soup base – almost milky in its consistency and color – that is flavorful as well as rich in collagen.
Furthermore, the noodles served in Ikkousha branches are produced in Ikkousha’s own noodle factory. Each bowl of ramen is topped with carefully seasoned and tender slices of cha-shu (braised pork). The ramen comes in several varieties: the classic tonkotsu; tonkotsu black, which has mayu (black garlic oil) for a more intense flavor; God Fire, the spicy variant that comes in four spice levels; and shio tonkotsu, which combines tonkotsu and shio (salt) broth for a lighter-bodied soup base.
Aside from Hakata Ikkousha's signature ramen, they also offer Gyoza and Karaage which are equally great-tasting as their ramen.
