TCL Philippines has officially launched the second batch of its specialized technical training program in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). This initiative aims to bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry readiness, focusing on the installation, repair, and maintenance of domestic refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
Building on the success of the inaugural program, this year’s session at the TESDA Regional Training Center for the National Capital Region (RTC-NCR) has evolved into a hybrid curriculum. By shifting from a lecture-heavy format to a model that emphasizes intensive, hands-on application, the program ensures participants are better equipped to handle the demands of the modern HVAC landscape.
Bridging Skills and Employment
The three day program hosted twenty-five participants, providing them with direct access to TCL’s product and service experts. Beyond basic mechanical maintenance, the curriculum included specialized training on TCL’s smart home ecosystem, such as the TCL Home App and integrated voice command features, ensuring technicians are prepared to service the latest connected appliances.
Key highlights of the initiative include:
Hybrid Learning: A balanced mix of technical theory and real world, hands-on experience using actual TCL split type air conditioning units.
Employment Pipelines: The program concluded with a formal evaluation and a mini job fair. This provided a direct bridge for trainees to connect with authorized TCL service centers and partners like B2B dealer Firstar.
Industry Standards: Participants earned official certification upon completion, validating their skills and enhancing their employability across the country.
Why This Partnership Matters
The collaboration serves as a prime example of public private partnerships aimed at professionalizing the Filipino workforce. For TCL, the program is part of a broader commitment to invest in the technical talent that sustains the industry.
"We are dedicated to investing in the people who keep the industry moving," says TCL Brand Manager Joseph Cernitchez. "By focusing on real world skills and industry standard technology, we are helping transform learners into professionals who will lead the future of the industry."
For trainees, the initiative offers more than just a certificate. It provides a clear pathway from training to potential employment, helping aspiring technicians and future dealers launch their careers with a solid foundation in both mechanical repairs and modern smart home technology.
Shaping the Future of HVAC
With the successful completion of this second batch, TCL has signaled that this is part of a long term commitment. As technology continues to advance, the demand for technicians who understand both traditional HVAC systems and digital, smart home integrations will only increase. TCL plans to roll out more training opportunities in the future to continue supporting the professional development of Filipino technicians.
