Running the Game: 32,000 Runners Max Out Race Weekend at SM Supermalls

Running the Game: 32,000 Runners Max Out Race Weekend at SM Supermalls

If you thought race weekends were just about the cardio, think again. This past weekend, SM Supermalls solidified its status as the ultimate destination for the local running community. A massive 32,000 runners hit the pavement across two major events in Cebu and at the SM Mall of Asia, proving that the running boom in the Philippines is reaching a new peak.

Through the SM Active Hub, SM has transformed its malls into a full blown ecosystem for athletes. We are talking 24 malls with dedicated running paths, support for 45 active running clubs, and a total of 55 running events hosted to date.

SM2SM Run 14: Cebu’s High Energy Sprint

In Cebu, the SM2SM Run 2026 celebrated its 14th year with a record breaking 15,500 participants. The route connected two of the city's most iconic landmarks, starting at SM Seaside City Cebu and ending at SM City Cebu.

A major highlight this year was the diversity of the pack, with women making up 40% of the runners. But the excitement did not stop at the finish line. One lucky runner, Desiree Villadolid, went home with a BYD Shark 6 electric pickup truck from the grand raffle.

This prize choice hits different because it aligns with SM's massive push for green tech. With over 90 malls nationwide, SM has built one of the largest free EV charging networks in the country, making the shift to electric mobility way more practical for everyday Filipinos.

Women’s Run PH: 16,500 Strong at SM MOA

Meanwhile, over at the SM Mall of Asia, the 2026 Filipina CEO Circle (FCC) Women’s Run PH took over the scenic seaside roads. In honor of International Women’s Day and Women’s Month, 16,500 runners showed up, and a staggering 90% of them were women.

Under the theme Strength, Grace, and Honor, the event has grown into a massive national platform for women's health and empowerment. Whether you are a casual jogger or a seasoned marathoner, the vibe at MOA was all about community and shared achievement.

The SM Active Hub Advantage

Supporting these massive events is the SM Active Hub, the dedicated sports and wellness platform that keeps these communities moving year round. It is not just about the big race days; it is about providing safe, accessible spaces for everyday training.

From the technical routes in Cebu to the sunset runs at MOA, SM Supermalls is proving that it is the heart of the Philippine running scene. When lifestyle, community, and maxed out experiences come together, you know it is an SM event.
