Vinta Market Opens at SM City Zamboanga Showcasing Local MSMEs and Regional Products

A new hub for local entrepreneurs has arrived in Mindanao. The newly launched Vinta Market officially opens inside SM City Zamboanga, bringing together regional products and homegrown brands from across the Zamboanga Peninsula.

The marketplace debuted during the March 20 opening of SM City Zamboanga, highlighting a strong push to support micro, small, and medium enterprises through a dedicated retail platform.

A Marketplace Built for Local Entrepreneurs

The Vinta Market features 20 local MSMEs offering handcrafted items, artisanal goods, fashion pieces, souvenirs, and regional delicacies. The initiative was launched in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry Region 9 and the SM for MSMEs program.

Inspired by the traditional Mindanao sailboat known as the vinta, the marketplace reflects color, culture, and community. Each booth showcases products rooted in regional identity while giving entrepreneurs direct access to mall shoppers.

Supporting Business Growth for MSMEs

Beyond retail exposure, the Vinta Market functions as a growth platform. Participating businesses gain visibility, customer access, and opportunities to scale operations.

Local entrepreneurs highlighted the impact of the initiative, noting increased market reach and stronger customer bases through mall exposure. Heritage artisans also emphasized the importance of sustaining traditional crafts while connecting with modern buyers.

Some MSMEs shared that training programs and seminars from SM helped expand distribution nationwide. These capacity building efforts allow small businesses to transition from local sellers to broader market suppliers.

Highlight of the SM City Zamboanga Opening

The launch of Vinta Market became one of the major highlights of the SM City Zamboanga opening. Visitors explored booths filled with locally made goods, each representing craftsmanship and community driven entrepreneurship.

The marketplace quickly turned into a discovery hub where shoppers can support local livelihoods while purchasing unique regional products.

Strengthening Filipino Entrepreneurship

Through initiatives like Vinta Market, SM Supermalls continues expanding opportunities for MSMEs. The program focuses on market access, visibility, and mentorship for emerging brands and startups.

The Vinta Market now stands as a permanent showcase of Zamboanga creativity, blending tradition, culture, and commerce in one accessible destination.
